The Basics of IVF

Understanding Your Journey From Consultation to Embryo Transfer

IVF can feel overwhelming. Between unfamiliar terminology, medications, procedures, and emotional challenges, many patients find themselves searching for clarity and support.

The Daffodil Room Group’s Basics of IVF Course was created to help you better understand the IVF process from your first fertility consultation through embryo transfer and beyond.

In this course, you will learn about:
- Preparing for your fertility consultation
- IVF testing, terminology, and treatment planning
- Medications, monitoring, and egg retrieval
- Fertilization, embryo development, and grading basics
- Genetic testing considerations and embryo transfer
- What to expect during the two-week wait and after transfer

Created by a Registered Nurse with fertility care experience, this course provides compassionate, patient-centered education to help you feel more informed, prepared, and confident throughout your IVF journey.

This course is for educational purposes only and does not replace medical advice from your fertility care team.

Rebecca Pomplas, BSN, RN

Meet Your Teacher

Rebecca is a registered nurse with a BSN from Case Western Reserve University and nearly a decade of experience across trauma, critical care, neuro-oncology research, maternal-child health, and reproductive medicine. Her passion for women's health grew through both her professional work and her own journey to parenthood, leading her to serve families in postpartum care, labor and delivery, antepartum, NICU, and currently at one of the nation's leading fertility clinics.

Rebecca's commitment to supporting families is deeply rooted in her personal experiences with PCOS, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, IVF, high-risk pregnancy, preterm birth, postpartum challenges, and domestic open infant adoption. These experiences inspired the creation of The Daffodil Room Group, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and alternative paths to parenthood. Today, Rebecca is the proud mother of three angels, a rainbow baby son conceived through IVF, and a daughter welcomed through adoption.
